QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION

Company Overview: Our dairy factory prides itself on producing high-quality dairy products sourced exclusively from local farmers. With 26 milk collection centres under our operation, we ensure that the cows are pasture-raised and free-roaming, guaranteeing the freshest and most natural milk. Our commitment to the community has positively impacted over 2,000 families. Our products are made from fresh milk without any preservatives, ensuring an authentic taste and quality.

Position Overview: The Sales and Business Development Director is a key leadership role responsible for driving sales growth, expanding business opportunities, and ensuring the company's products reach a broader market. This role demands a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills and a profound understanding of the dairy industry. The Sales and Business Development Director will oversee the Sales Manager and Business Development Manager, ensuring alignment with the company's goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales and business development strategies to achieve company goals and revenue targets.
  • Identify new market opportunities and develop plans to penetrate these markets effectively.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to stay ahead of industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer preferences.

Sales Management:

  • Lead and manage the sales team to achieve sales targets and increase market share.
  • Establish sales goals, monitor performance, and provide coaching and feedback to the sales team.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, distributors, and retail partners.

Business Development:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including partnerships, collaborations, and new market entry.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance brand visibility and market presence.
  • Work closely with the Business Development Manager to explore and expand into new geographical areas and product lines.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities for direct reports.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the sales and business development teams.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and set individual development plans for team members.

Budgeting and Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage the sales and business development budget.
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Prepare regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and business development activities for the General Manager.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through effective relationship management and problem resolution.
  • Oversee the implementation of customer feedback mechanisms and use insights to improve products and services.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of industry contacts and stakeholders.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure all sales and business development activities comply with company policies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales activities, customer interactions, and market intelligence.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to the General Manager and senior leadership team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in sales and business development within the dairy or food industry.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze market trends and develop effective strategies.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software and sales analytics tools.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Work Environment:

The Sales and Business Development Director will primarily work in an office environment but will also be required to travel to meet clients, attend industry events, and visit the company's milk collection centres and production facilities.
